The Tom Richardson Award is Colliers USA's highest honor, and it is bestowed annually on the person within Colliers USA who best expemplifies the character and attributes that Tom shared with so many of us. Among those traits are:
- impeccable integrity;
- a passion for sharing;
- unqualified love of family and friends;
- a dedication to the community, especially the less fortunate;
- a contagious sense of humor and the ability to see the good in all events and all people;
- the genius to maintain the perspective of business, family, friends and community; and,
- an unbridled enthusiasm for everything he undertook.
Tom Richardson served as president of the Colliers office in Phoenix and was one of the original Board members of Colliers USA, serving as vice chairman. In November of 1999, when Tom Richardson lost his battle with cancer, Colliers USA lost a great friend and inspiration to many. In his honor, Colliers USA established the Tom Richardson Award.
Tom’s enthusiasm for the Colliers organization and, more importantly, for people in general was contagious. More so than any other individual, Tom gave Colliers a personality and promoted the human side of the organization. His personal warmth, sense of humor, strength of character and ability to always place others first were his trademarks. Tom derived joy from seeing the happiness, success and good fortune of others. He did not measure the quality of his life in terms of dollars, number of deals or press releases.
Today, Colliers is a far better organization for having had the leadership and influence of Tom Richardson.
