COLUMBUS, OH – July 31, 2009 – Mark D. Phelan has been named managing principal of Colliers Turley Martin Tucker’s (CTMT) Columbus office. He succeeds Stephen Falor who opened the office in 2005 and recently retired.
Phelan will oversee 44 associates, including 36 licensed professionals covering all facets of commercial real estate, including office, industrial, retail, investment, property management, corporate services and more. CTMT’s office is the third largest commercial real estate firm in the Columbus market based on number of licensed brokers. Business First has selected the office as one of the best places to work in the Columbus area over the past three years.
Phelan has extensive executive experience. He most recently worked at Nationwide Financial Services where he held senior management positions over the past nine years. He most recently served as senior vice president/group executive in the individual investments group for the Fortune 100 company. Phelan oversaw the financial services firm’s managed accounts and its fixed and variable annuity business. He was responsible for the group’s operating budget and a staff of more than 400 associates.
Phelan’s career also includes executive positions in sales and marketing for Checkfree Corp., AT&T and IBM.

Phelan is a long-time resident of the Columbus area, residing in Dublin with his wife Ellen. He is active in the Columbus community, serving on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Center for Healthy Families and The Catholic Foundation. He is past chairman of the Communities in Schools and a former board member of Access Health Columbus and the Nationwide Foundation Gifts Committee.
