by Aimee Course

Rosemont, IL

Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler Inc. (Colliers B&K) received the Industrial Transaction of the Year and Industrial Investment Transaction of the Year awards given by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties at the 22nd annual Awards for Excellence ceremony. The event took place at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers November 9, 2009.

Industrial Transaction of the Year
The Colliers B&K team of Vernon F. Schultz, SIOR, Executive Vice President and Michael L. Senner, SIOR, Senior Vice President, represented Kronos Foods in a purchase, 20-year sale/leaseback and redevelopment of the former 207,000-square-foot U.S. Food Services building in Glendale Heights, Illinois. Kronos Foods sought to consolidate four separate facilities – meat processing, bakery, cold storage and distribution – into one location and chose Colliers B&K to perform a detailed multi-property, multi-state search for a building that encompasses their various requirements. Schultz and Senner assisted Kronos Foods in selecting United Insulated Structures Corporation to create the processing, baking and freezer requirement.  Michael Sedjo and Patrick McCourt of CB Richard Ellis represented the seller.

Industrial Investment Transaction of the Year
Jeffrey B. Devine, Steven C. Disse, Jeffrey F. Kahan, Principals, and David J. Egan, Senior Associate, members of Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler’s Investment Services Group represented an anonymous seller in the sale of a 1,243,663-SF three-building portfolio in Addison and Lake Bluff, Illinois and Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.  This unique $42.4 million transaction completed during an unstable market satisfied the seller’s business needs as well as the buyer’s to acquire industrial properties at an appealing rate in less than six months.
