Bucharest Real Estate Index monitors the asking-price per built square meter (including VAT) in Bucharest and Ilfov. Given the heterogeneous nature of the residential property market, the index is assembled via the mix adjustment method from two sub-indices: BREI-N (New) and BREI-V (Old). The first monitors the prices of units in projects over 200 units started after 2005, while the second records the prices of apartments built before 1990. The data covers a period starting in 2005 until present, so the index was launched with a 3-year backlog.
